Hello! My name is Kathy Sancken and I make everything you will see for sale on this site in my studio in Central Illinois. Think corn and bean fields! I have been lampworking for about 6 years. Melting glass and turning it into art is an incredible feeling. Glass is not an easy medium to work with. Each type of glass has its own characteristics. Knowing how each color "works", along with a willingness to experiment, can produce incredible beads. This art medium requires complete attention! The 1500 degree flame is only inches from my face and hands. Oh, and then there is the hot flying glass, but I'll save those stories for my blog.
My "Other Whims" could be almost anything - art quilts, felted scuptures, bead weavings, handpainted silk scarfs, or who knows! I love playing in many mediums even though my main focus is lampwork.
